Hello Parents, Campers, and Friends of the Camp,
2024 was quite the year! We had 8 campers accept Jesus’ free gift of Salvation, an increase in our attendance, as well as holding High School camp for the first time since Covid! We also explored giving campers more choices of activities and this was well received. We are excited to see how the 2025 season shapes up.
That being said, we are dealing with the results of a 2024 fall flash flood and we need to make you aware of what is going on. The flash flood came over the debris pit that is in place above our spring water collection pond for the purpose of collecting any flash flood debris to keep that away from our collection pond. There were several reasons this happened which were beyond our control. The resulting problem is that Shale fines entered our collection pond and plugged all our water filters in the water treatment plant. We share the spring water with the neighbor and they lost access to water as well. The long story short is that we are still experiencing shale fines plugging up our filters which keeps us from using a set of filters that ensure our water is drinkable. Between the water issue and the lack of snow we have had to cancel this year’s winter camps. Once the existing snow melts and the ground thaws in the spring we will be able to bring in heavy equipment to take care of the debris pit and the collection pond issues. The results should be a greatly reduced chance of this ever happening in the future as well as restoring potable water to the camp.
We assure you that staff training camp, all three 2025 youth camps as well as family retreat will happen. For your planning purposes, here are the dates we have set:
We have two fundraisers this year.
We look forward to seeing new and familiar faces this spring and summer at our fundraisers and here at camp!
God’s blessings on you and your family!
